Jessica’s lifetime investigation into the portal of the body as a doorway to know the expression of her own spirit has taken many forms and draws from many sources. With a strong foundation in yoga and dance modalities, she nonetheless considers her body her biggest teacher, and her greatest education has come from time in self-investigation and deep listening. 

Her embodiment practice evolved significantly through work with plant medicines, and facilitating plant medicine retreats, where she developed unique methods to help others anchor the high-frequency information from the plants into the body, as well as to support the cleansing and release of what is “in the way” through guided movement.

Her gift in holding these spaces of embodied movement lies in the precision and clarity of her communication, and her intuitive ability to feel and direct the energy where it seeks to go, as well as a deep familiarity with the energy body, its portals, and pathways.

Embodiment

  • “Hatha”, meaning “sun-moon” in Sanskrit, is a general term that can encompass many styles of yoga.

    Yoga explores mastery of the physical and energy bodies through cultivation of the solar, “yang” or heating force of nature in relationship, balance and complementarity with the lunar, “yin” or cooling force.

    This class is suitable for yogis of any level of experience. Drawing from Jessica's studies in various modalities of yoga, the focus of this class is in deepening the subtle awareness of the body and breath.

    Each posture is approached in a very systematic, detailed sequence, with a lot of attention given to subtle alignment and sensation as well as to the specific muscles, tendons and body systems which are benefited by any given posture. 

    Meditation, Pranayama and chanting are also an integral part of this practice.

  • Vinyasa means “breath synchronized movement”, and thus a Vinyasa flow class is guided by the rhythm of the breath – each posture flows into the next, directed by the inbreath and the outbreath.

    Postures are linked seamlessly together in a fluid, graceful manner, creating a complex and intelligent design or "flow", often enacted on the right side of the body and then repeating the entire "flow" on the left side. 

    A vinyasa flow practice is an invigorating, energizing practice which builds strength and stamina while maintaining the focus and presence of full, conscious breathing.

  • This class is designed to inspire awareness in the practitioner of his or her own natural grace and the nobility of being.

    Great attention is given to finding the pleasure of intuitive, conscious movement and to creating a sense of seamless fluidity guided by the breath.

    “Free Form” explores the dance of life as lived through the body and its relationship to our environment. While the class is guided, there is no “right way” in this exploration into ways of moving and making shapes.

    The class is approached as a journey where students might be encouraged to explore anything from taking on the forms of animals or plants, to embodiment of the energy of the elements or of universal archetypes. 

    In listening to the body and allowing it to move and express in the way it wants to, we invoke the living intelligence within us and align ourselves with the patterns, movements and cycles inherent to nature: the ever evolving dance of creation.

Although we can and should draw from the wisdom cultivated across the ages from diverse methods and systems, ultimately all of this must be tested and learned from the inside out - not from an auto-pilot response to a mental command, but from an inner listening and allowing. In this way, we understand ourselves as dancers of the great dance of life. We may come to know ourselves, and our bodies, as Living Beings in intimate relationship to a Living Universe. In my understanding, the practices of yoga and other modalities teach me to understand the dance of life as a relationship between spontaneous, authentic response and a timeless, ancient pattern or design which guides each moment of creation. Understanding this dance through my body allows me to embody the natural nobility of being, and take my place in the dance of creation.
